Heppner Chiropractic

This has been an exciting month and a half. My chiropractic practice, Heppner Chiropractic, opened on March 2nd and has been picking up speed ever since. Check out my website www.heppnerchiropractic.com I am in an office with 2 other chiropractors and a massage therapist, so we share staff and supplies to keep costs down. It is a great environment to work in. All members of the staff are Christians and very easy to get along with. I have been getting involved with our Chamber of Commerce, so that helps to get to know people and to feel like I belong here. It is nice to see familiar faces around town for a change. I also joined my church's choir and a CERT Team (Community Emergency Response Team). I'm really loving it out here. It's awesome to wake up everyday and see the mountains everyday on my drive to work. Robb and I have also been exploring the area - mount hood and the willamette River. I'd like to do more hiking, but we have been working so hard lately, the last thing we want to do on weekends is to wear ourselves out more. I am really looking forward to coming to Ohio for Bridget's wedding. I hope you all can be there and I'm also can't wait to see my family. See you soon!

Un-pregnant

It's weird not being pregnant when you were yesterday and have no baby to show for it. Miscarriages are an awful experience. Sure, God was probably saving us and our little baby from a life of disabilities and pain, but it really is difficult to accept. I'm glad that we were only as far along as we were. Everyday of pregnancy bonds you more with the little baby inside. Also, from a physical aspect I don't know how I could handle a larger miscarriage. I pray that none of you reading this ever has to share this experience, but I am glad that I had certain tools to deal with this that I did. I won't share the gorey details here, but it is a crazy thing that no one should do alone or unprepared. I thought I was crazy for reading Lamaze books at 10 weeks, but when the contractions started and I was at home without medication, I was darn glad I knew how to relax and breathe through them and that I knew what to expect along the way. OK, enough about this. The next post should be happier. I really do like Oregon.

Surprise!!

That's right - Robb and I are having a baby!! I haven't had an ultrasound yet, so that is not really my baby, but it is 8 weeks along - just like ours! Our VERY unexpected Christmas miracle will be born in late July. This has been quite a month for us! I'm graduating next Saturday, Robb got good news about getting a job in Salem (the Bank is likely to transfer him to a nice Salem branch), we bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, and we will start our 3 day - 31 hour drive to Salem next Sunday to arrive just in time for Christmas, AND now we are having a BABY!!! We have so much to be thankful for this Christmas season!

Same old...

I was going to update my blog, but then I realized that I'm doing the exact thing right now that I was doing 3 months ago, so there isn't much to say. I'm graduating in 3 weeks and I have a job lined up in Oregon. We have yet to sign the contract, but hopefully I'll get that this week. Robb is still in the process of transferring with US Bank. Hopefully that will all work out smoothly.

I got to go home to Ohio this weekend to see my family. Unfortunatly Robb had to work Friday and Saturday, so he stayed in St. Louis. I got to see my whole family (except my brother) and everyone is doing well. Dad is recovering well from his lung transplant and is even feeling good enough to travel out here for graduation. Mom is dating a guy named Bob and we went to his Thanksgiving together on Friday. Max is growing like a weed and Kate and Randy are doing well too. Kate got her CPA and Randy got a new job, so we had a lot to celebrate.

I can't wait for graduation!!!

Packing up

Thankfully now that I'm finished with classes, life is very different than the first 3 years at Logan. Instead of going to school every morning at 7:15, I work as a Teaching Assistant for Basic Class for the younger classes. It is funny to see how much we've learned so far and to compare to people who still struggle to find a PSIS. In the afternoons I treat patients in our outpatient clinics. Thanks to God, I'm done with all of my clinic requirements already, so I just have to log hours and I'm in the process of transfering all my patients to other interns. It is hard to see them go, but I'm ready to be done and out of here. In the evenings and my spare time I've been taking our house by storm in trying to get rid of everything possible and to condense all that we own so that it will all fit in our 2 small cars without the cost of a U-Haul. I tried to sell a bunch of stuff on E-Bay, but I ended up losing a ton of money in shipping costs. I had no idea how complicated it could be (and time consuming!!) Everything else is going to Goodwill. You'd be amazed how much stuff 2 people can collect in a short amount of time! So far we have a futon and a beer fridge waiting for us in Oregon, but not much else. I'm flying to Oregon in 2 weeks to take my state board exam and to meet with some local chiropractors to find one to work with. I will be starting my own office within another person's office, so I can start building a patient base of my own while keeping overhead low. Hopefully that way I can get a good head start in practice before Robb and I start a family. My friend Sarah from high school just had her baby and named her Sophia Genevieve, so I've got babies on my mind right now! ...but don't get any ideas people...we have a lot of settling in to do before all of that!

Update

Hello everyone! I haven't been on any really exciting vacations or done anything amazing lately, but life is good. Robb and I are settling into married life quite nicely. At least our fish are still alive, so maybe we are getting closer to being ready for parenthood. (We don't intend to start being parents anytime soon, but at least we can handle fish.) Robb bought a guitar, so it reminds me of the old days in 4th Lincoln. I also had to write my testimony this week for church to share with a women's group I'm in. It reminded me of how wonderful all of you are and how much I miss seeing you all more often. Anyway, I have to go to class, but I hope to hear from you soon!

1 Month Anniversary

Today is Robb and my 1 month anniversary of our marriage! We are finally settled in here and we are done traveling for a little while. We still have a pile of Thank you notes to write, but other than that, the wedding to do list is disappearing. Our marriage is going so well and we are having such a great time learning how to cook together, shop together, go to church together, and everything else... Life is good! I hope you all keep updating your blogs because I really like having a way to keep up with all of you without writing e-mails to each person seperately. Anyway...more to come!
